Eric Malmborg founded Bolder Adventure Travel to inspire people to lives of adventure; to explore, dream, and discover. Undertaking bold adventure experiences brings joy – and develops courage, strength, and confidence for leading rich lives. It helps us come alive! Let us help you create a bold adventure experience that’s right for you and your friends or family.
For ten years, Eric served as an instructor and course director for the Colorado Outward Bound School, leading summer and winter mountaineering courses, as well as courses in the Canyonlands of Utah. He taught history at the Steamboat Mountain School in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, heading up their outdoor program and teaching rock climbing and cross-country skiing. He also designed, organized, and led students on annual trips to Europe, North Africa, Asia and South America.
An accomplished athlete, Eric has competed as a nationally-ranked Nordic ski racer and has cross-country skied across Finland, from Russia to Sweden in the longest ski event in the world. He has finished the one-day, 120-mile Triple Bypass road cycling event three times and completed numerous, multi-day mountain biking trips.
Eric has traveled the world from the Indian Ocean to the Caribbean, pursuing his love of fly-fishing. His favorite leisurely pursuit is creating, developing, and completing bucket list trips for himself and others.
After 25 years of working in the field of organizational development, Eric now shares his passion through guided cycling and hiking tours rich in historical interpretation. He can also guide you to unique and authentic travel experiences in the surrounding area and help you plan the adventure vacation of your dreams.
Ben Malmborg is joining the Bolder Adventure Travel team, and is excited to make outdoor adventure accessible to all. Growing up in Boulder, Colorado, Ben was fortunate to have miles of mountain trails out his front door, and took advantage of them whenever he could. An avid cyclist, hiker, and Nordic skier, Ben is experienced in planning adventures and sharing his love of wild places.
A competitive mountain biker for nearly a decade, Ben has ridden and raced his bike across the U.S. and Europe. These days, bike packing and gravel riding allow him to pursue his passion for exploring new terrain across Colorado. In 2015, Ben completed a bold adventure by bike packing the Colorado Trail in 10 days. Stretching almost 500 miles from Denver to Durango, the average elevation is over 10,300 feet with almost 90,000’ of climbing. Ben is always looking forward to his next trip.
From his own travels and adventures, Ben has learned how to create experiences that go beyond the ordinary and give you a sense of the place you’re visiting. From riding seldom seen mountain roads, to hiking the miles of trails that leave from town, let Ben show you a different side of Boulder.
